It will be on display throughout the month of December in a prominent place on the second floor of the Gaudí Palace.

The scene, a paradigm of the infancy of Jesus, takes place among the ruins of a building of classical architecture, with simple pillars and remains of the wooden framework that would cover the collapsed stable. In the center, in the foreground, the Adoration of the Child by his parents. The Virgin, a young woman with flowing hair, extends her hands as a sign of offering and St. Joseph, with gray hair, holds a candle and his staff, appearing between them the ox and the mule.

Two shepherds come to venerate the Child, with a costume typical of the country people of the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. A choir of angels appears in the background and to the left a personage who could be the donor, because he is dressed in clothes of a higher social class.

The panel is due to a notable painter who is familiar with the work of Juan de Flandes or who could even be part of his workshop, whose influence in León and Zamora has been noted in various studies. This influence is reflected in the pillars with molded capitals and the architecture of the background, the treatment of the hair or the smooth mantle of the Virgin or the soft chromatic intonation, characteristic debtors of the Flemish master.

The Gaudí Palace can be visited from Monday to Sunday from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm and in the afternoons from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. With the exhibition of this oil painting it will be possible to discover all the pieces that have been highlighted in the past months and that are also on display on the second floor of the Palace. This work will be moved at the end of December, although it can be visited until the end of January in the exhibition.

The Museum of the Ways of the Gaudí Palace closes this year 2024 highlighting a Nativity in oil on panel from Sardonedo (León).

[173
176,177
post-9042","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-museum-of-the-roads","tag-piece-of-the-month
["GET
