The Gaudí Palace of Astorga has awarded this Wednesday to the Caja Rural Foundation the institutional title of “Ambassador of the Palace”, within the framework of the institutional program that articulates the strategic alliances on the occasion of the Gaudí Year 2026, commemoration of the centenary of the death of Antoni Gaudí.
The naming ceremony was held at the main office of Caja Rural in León, located on Avenida Ordoño II, and was attended by Víctor Murias, director of the Palace, and Narciso Prieto Martín, director of Communication and Institutional Relations of Caja Rural and executive director of the Caja Rural Foundation.
“On an occasion as important as this centenary of Gaudí’s death, because of the figure and what he represents for Astorga, León and its territory, we believe that it is a commitment that we should acquire to collaborate with the Palace, which is part of the heritage of this land. We are grateful to be part of the event and what is going to happen in Astorga this year,” said Wednesday the director of Communication and Institutional Relations of Caja Rural.
For his part, the director of the Palace stressed the importance of having the collaboration of the Caja Rural Foundation in this special year. “There are few Gaudí buildings outside Catalonia and Astorga is perhaps the most difficult to show to the world. That is why we created the Ambassadors program, so that institutions and individuals can help us to carry out this work. I want to thank Caja Rural for their collaboration and help to carry out different activities this year in the Palace of Gaudí, starting in March with the events around the figure of Bishop Grau, a friend of Gaudí and both from Reus, thanks to whom we have Gaudí present in the province of León. Thanks to the work and commitment of Caja Rural to help spread the Palace in this centenary year”.

During the ceremony, an accredited and framed diploma was handed out, officially marking the anniversary and formalizing the commitment acquired. Through its Foundation, Caja Rural will assume the role of ambassador of the monument, actively promoting its dissemination, its cultural programming and its positioning as a tourist and heritage reference.
The “Ambassadors of the Palace” program was created with the aim of involving institutions, companies and entities in the projection of the monument of Astorga, reinforcing its cultural dimension and its capacity of attraction beyond the local level. In this context, the collaboration with Caja Rural represents a significant support for the consolidation of the calendar of activities planned for 2026 and for the expansion of the Gaudí legacy throughout the territory.
With this appointment, Gaudí Palace continues to weave a network of alliances that will allow Gaudí Year 2026 to be a shared, open and memorable celebration, strengthening cooperation between the cultural sphere and the business fabric.
