The signing of the agreement dated May 25, 2018, in Astorga, for the dissemination of Gaudinian heritage between the Gaudí Palace of Astorga and the Alfar Museum of Jiménez de Jamuz, has borne fruit.
After a delicate and meticulous work with the molds of the Genius and the Clay of the bastion of the Castilian Leonese pottery. Already on sale at the Gaudí Palace and the Alfar Museum are 200 unique pieces, numbered, serialized and referenced with the original stamps of both institutions and documentation that make them unique.
The pieces have been made following all the traditional steps, from the extraction of the clay in the village’s clay pits to the firing with urces in the Arab oven, including the decoration, brick by brick, with pintos and glazing.
The pieces created correspond to two molds that gave rise to two types of voussoirs, which are recognizable in the Palace itself in various rooms.
This is the first step towards the global dissemination of a piece of Gaudí’s work in the city of Astorga. Both institutions avoid the consideration of merchandising for these pieces, because it is a real piece of the Palace, they are not replicas of anything, they are the same voussoirs, made by the same hands potters, made in this case a century later by the Master Potter Jaime Argüello Lombardero.
