On Wednesday, December 5, a temporary exhibit dedicated to Christmas was inaugurated in the Gaudi Palace. Present at the ceremony were the Bishop, the Vicar General and the Vicar of Astorga-Zamora, the director of the Palace, the diocesan bursar and a representative of the city council.
Under the title NATUS EST this exhibition will remain on the second floor of the Palace from December 8 to January 31, 2019.
15 pieces of painting, sculpture and gold and silver work from the Palace’s collection and from different parishes in the diocese of Astorga, such as the Parish Cross of Lagunas de Somoza from the end of the 16th century, in whose detail of the niches of the macolla are represented scenes such as the Annunciation of Mary and the Birth of Jesus; a chalice from Brimeda; a precious Nativity Scene from the town of Zacos in Cepeda, Cieza… are some of the jewels that can be seen in this exhibition, set with Gregorian chant.
