The idea was launched in 2015 by Richard Faille, in France, and from there it spread to Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Portugal. The Banknote with a face value of 0 euros has a common side with the most emblematic monuments of Europe and the other personalized with the image of each venue.
These banknotes are manufactured at the Oberthur Fiduciaire printing house in France, one of the official printers of our Euros, on authentic currency paper and with all the security features: watermarks, copper strips, embossed printing (touch sensitive), hologram, transparent register, fluorescent ink visible under ultraviolet light and an individual serial number, which is unique to each banknote.
The secret of the bill is not that it looks like a real one: it is real.
The aim is for the collection to offer a representation of Spain’s cultural and tourist heritage as a whole.
The 2018 Euro Souvenir collection already features Spanish landmarks such as the Aqueduct of Segovia, the Cathedral of Burgos, La Puerta de Alcalá, the Zoo Aquarium in Madrid, La Casa Battló and now another monument designed by the brilliant Catalan architect has been added: the Gaudí Palace in Astorga.
Limited editions of 10,000 tickets per venue are being launched, priced at €2 and exclusively available at these venues. This product, which is already a huge success with visitors, tourists and collectors, allows the promotion of different cultural and tourist venues and helps their growth and preservation thanks to the income it brings in.
They can be purchased now at the price of 2€ at the Palace Store or at 2,5€ through the website billetes0euros.com (plus shipping and handling).
