The refurbishment works of the gardens of the Gaudí Palace in Astorga are progressing. “The landscape project is one of the most relevant actions of the Palace this year,” explains its director, Víctor Murias Borrajo. It is a project that recovers Gaudí’s original spirit and updates the outdoor space so that it becomes an authentic living tribute to his legacy.
The project, one of the most relevant planned for this year 2025, is part of the special action plan for the celebration of Gaudí Year 2026. The intervention includes the complete renovation of the Palace’s exterior environment, as well as the adaptation and reconfiguration of some of its compositional elements. The aim is for the garden to become a living tribute to the figure and legacy of the Catalan architect.

The project management is in charge of the architects Virginia González and Raúl Villafáñez, from VIRA Arquitectura, and the landscape design will be carried out by José Luis Alonso, from A2 Estudio. Both professionals have worked on a proposal that combines fidelity to Gaudí’s ideas with a modern interpretation, taking care of the integration of the garden with the monumental complex of the Palace.
With this action, the Gaudí Palace reinforces its commitment to the conservation, enhancement and dissemination of the work of Antoni Gaudí, offering visitors an even more harmonious and evocative environment, in dialogue with the architecture and spirituality that surround the building.
