Secrets in Gaudí’s Palace

At the north end of the Gaudí Palace is the main staircase. The north tower, crowned on the outside by a weathervane in the shape of a rooster, is larger than the other three towers of the building and breaks the symmetry of the lateral facades of the monument.
A spiral staircase gives access to all the floors that can be visited to date and there, in the heart of Astorga, in the shelter of Gaudí’s Palace, lies a secret waiting to be discovered by those bold enough to venture in search of it. The central space was designed for an elevator that was never installed, or was it? Gaudí, visionary as he was and ahead of his time, would have built in Astorga one of the first elevators in Spain.

Beyond the closed doors and silent staircases, something else is hidden: Gaudí’s Hidden Palace. A space that will be open to the public soon.
