Twenty pieces from all parts of the Diocese of Astorga make up the exhibition ‘INRI’ dedicated to Jesus crucified. The director of the Gaudí Palace, accompanied by the guide Alfonso García Nistal, presented this Tuesday, April 9, the new exhibition that can be visited on the second floor of the Palace until August 31.
Jesus Nazarene King of the Jews’. This was the inscription that Pilate had carved on the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. With the approach of Holy Week, the Gaudí Palace dedicates to Christ this exhibition composed of different works of art that have Christ crucified as a central element. These are pieces that the Gaudí Palace holds and to which importance is given with this temporary exhibition.

The central image of the poster is the Christ that presides over the processional cross of Castrotierra. One of the two ‘Michelangelo’ Christs preserved by the Asturian diocese and made from original molds from Michelangelo’s Italian environment. However, it is an altar cross that attracts the attention of the exhibition. A recently restored piece in ebony and ivory that has been hidden in the Palace for more than 50 years. This cross, from Requejo de Pradorrey, depicts scenes from the Passion and crucifixion of Christ in poignant detail.
It will be open until August 31 from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm in the mornings and from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm in the afternoons until April 30. From May 1, with the start of summer opening hours, the exhibition ‘INRI’ will be open from 10:00 to 14:00 in the mornings and from 16:00 to 20:00 in the afternoons.
