The Gaudí Palace in Astorga has signed this Tuesday a collaboration agreement with the Casa Botines Museum in León and the Capricho de Gaudí in Comillas, formalizing the close relationship that unites the only three buildings of Antoni Gaudí outside Catalonia. The agreement includes the main lines of collaboration for an alliance that aims to promote projects and activities in a coordinated manner, with the aim of increasing knowledge and interest in the life and work of Gaudí. Thanks to joint strategic planning, existing synergies in cultural, educational or scientific matters will be strengthened, as well as those aimed at promoting cultural tourism in their respective destinations. “Today’s act means walking together with the same motivation and objective: to make visible and work so that the figure of Gaudí and his legacy bring us closer and allow us to discover the brilliant architect who has given us these magnificent works that can only be studied and better understood from their enhancement, not as independent elements but as chapters and parts of the same work of art. This agreement helps to make this possible,” said the director of the Palace, Víctor Murias, on Wednesday.

After the signing of the agreement, Carlos Mirapeix, director of El Capricho de Gaudí, Raúl Fernández, director of the Casa Botines Gaudí Museum, José María Viejo, director of FUNDOS (the managing entity of the museum in León), and Víctor Murias, director of the Gaudí Palace, met to discuss the first steps of this alliance, which will be presented to their respective local, provincial and regional governments. Among the priorities of the group is the planning of the joint program to be developed for the centenary of Gaudí’s death, which will take place in 2026. Likewise, the three buildings are part of the group of entities that requested last July the extension of the declaration of the Catalan architect’s buildings as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The spokespersons of the three signatories agreed that this is a historic moment in the Gaudí universe outside Catalonia since, although relations have always been excellent, they had never been consolidated under an agreement of this type.
“The Gaudí Way”, a pilgrimage to live, know and dream around the figure of Gaudí.
The event coincided with the presentation of the “Gaudí’s Way” platform, which will house information on the present and future activities of the three buildings www.elcaminodegaudi.com. This initiative focuses on three main lines of action, which invite visitors to walk the path that connects the three buildings, with a special focus on children and young people. The first will focus on the physical route for cultural pilgrims to live unique experiences, traveling from Cantabria to Castilla y León. The second will address the path of knowledge to bring the figure of Gaudí to young people and children, through collections of stories, lecture series or the contents of the respective school programs, among other actions. The third axis defines and incorporates the social commitment of the project, supporting new talents who want to train in artistic and cultural disciplines, through annual awards and scholarships.
