The Gaudí Palace in Astorga, with the aim of showing young people one of the three monuments of the modernist architect outside Catalonia, has prepared a project of educational visits aimed at students of kindergarten, primary and secondary school. For high school students offers general admission or with Tablet, and more according to their ages and abilities.
Through this initiative, students will be able to get to know the monument of Astorga and the Museum of the Roads that it houses inside. The educational department has designed the activities, which will also include the implementation of a didactic classroom with materials to complement the school visits, which will be available from the next academic year 2019/2020. Schools interested in carrying out any of these experiences can contact through the phone 987616882 or email visitas@palaciodegaudi.es.
First, schools are offered a guided tour in which each center, with their teachers, will visit and tour the Gaudí Palace accompanied, at first, by one of the guides who will explain to the students the history of the building. Then, the students and their teachers will be able to walk around the building independently and freely.
There are also three didactic experiences in which a guide will accompany the students through the Palacio y Museo de los Caminos explaining, for approximately 35 minutes, the theme chosen by the center to finish in the didactic classroom with the realization of one or more activities related to the experience.
In this aspect the experiences are focused on highlighting different points and aspects of the monument in Astorga. In the visit entitled “GAUDÍ AND THE PALACE”, the visit will deal with the life of the brilliant author and the history of the Episcopal Palace of Astorga. In the “ART AND ARCHITECTURE” experience, the visit will deal with the history and architecture of the Episcopal Palace, focusing on its architectural elements, with special emphasis on specific vocabulary, such as what are columns, capitals and what is a ribbed vault, among others.
The third didactic experience takes the students to “THE ROMAN WORLD”, which takes advantage of the collection of pieces belonging to the Roman world that are in the basement of the building where the students will learn about the uses and customs of ancient society.
